1969 Fender Rhodes Suitcase 73 Key
For your consideration is this
restored 1969 Fender Rhodes Suitcase. Nearly every aspect on this piano
has been lube, cleaned, replaced, restored, rebuilt, or just plain
improved. We received the piano in a dead on arrival condition. Our
fears that the amp was blown up were confirmed upon our first
inspection. The Peterson amp's have germanium power transistors that
are nearly impossible to find in acceptable conditions. We performed
the standard practice of modifying both power modules to take silicon
transistors. This is a definite plus because silicon transistors are
much more stable than the originals. This is why Rhodes modified later
suitcase models with amps that had silicon power transistors. We then
moved on to rebuilding the preamp for reliable operation. The piano
itself has had extensive work done to improve action, tone, and
response. This piano is a pure joy to play and sounds pleasingly
unique. It carries the very distinct early era Fender Rhodes sound
which is highlighted by the desirable 80 watt Peterson Amp. The
speakers are comprised of two 12" 8 ohm Rola's and two 10" 8 ohm
woofers. We replaced one of the 10" with a brand new Jensen C10Q and
the other is a vintage CTS. The speakers are all wired correctly to
give the amp its proper 16 ohm load. The piano comes with the power
cable and 4 pin connector cable. The list below is provided to
give you an idea of what was repaired on the piano. This is not a
complete A-Z list because too much was done to list.
